The City of Adelaide recorded 5.7 per cent economic growth in the most recent fiscal year, placing it third among Australian capital city regions behind Perth and Canberra, according to multiple local economic reports. Gross regional product stood at 23.95 billion dollars in 2023.
Local employment rose 19 per cent from 142,000 jobs in 2019 to 170,000 in 2023, with total CBD and North Adelaide workers reaching about 172,652 by 2025. GST-registered businesses increased 10 per cent above pre-pandemic levels to 12,338.
Workers in the city contribute an estimated 2.5 billion dollars in annual spending at an average of 72 dollars per day, supporting retail, hospitality and services across the CBD. The top sectors by output remain public administration, professional services and financial and insurance services.
This performance reflects a sustained recovery that has outpaced several other capitals and continues to drive demand for office space and local services.
