Guided Tours Boost Adelaide CBD Attendance in July
Guided walks and market sessions in the city centre have posted higher attendance figures in the opening weeks of July.
How we reported this
More than 1,200 people booked places on guided tours inside the Adelaide CBD between 1 July and 10 July this year.
The rise follows a period of heavy international news coverage that has left many residents looking for activities within easy reach of home or work. City records show the increase started after the first reports of fresh border tensions in the Middle East reached local screens.
Routes Along North Terrace and Hindley Street
Adelaide Historical Society runs a 90-minute walk that begins at the corner of North Terrace and Kintore Avenue, passes the State Library forecourt and then turns into the smaller lanes behind Hindley Street. Participants stop at three restored 19th-century warehouses now used as small galleries. A separate operator, CBD Eats, offers a two-hour tasting route that starts inside the Adelaide Central Market on Gouger Street and finishes at three nearby cafes on Waymouth Street.
Both programs run on set days and require advance booking through their own websites or at the visitor desk in Victoria Square.
Numbers and Next Steps
Tourism Adelaide figures released last week list 2,450 total tour places sold across all operators in the CBD during June, up from 1,870 in the same month last year. Individual tickets range from $28 for the market tasting to $45 for the heritage walk, with sessions scheduled for 15 July, 18 July and 22 July still open as of yesterday afternoon.
Anyone wanting to join can check remaining spots on the Adelaide CBD tourism site or call the information booth at Victoria Square before midday on the day of the tour.
